Ranking the QMJHL Forwards of the NHL 2015 Draft (Statistically)

Takeaways from the Data:

Connor Garland may turn out to be a steal taken in the 5th round.  He could have been targeted as early as the third round and is a great low risk pick.  I am not arguing that he is 1st or 2nd round talent, but he isn’t that far outside it.

Daniel Sprong had the offensive pedigree to be a first round pick when you look at Beauvillier’s performance in these rankings.  The Penguins picked the player that provided the most value at that position.  Rumors of bad interviews and lack of defensive prowess attributed to his drop.  He’s one of mine to watch on an older, experienced, Islanders team.

Timashov may prove to be a reason to applaud Mark Hunter’s selections in the later rounds.  This 19 year old has performed in every league he has played in.  Scouts may have benefited with more viewings in North America and the Memorial Cup but they did not reach for him.

Anthony Richard may be one of the most overlooked dynamic offensive players in the whole draft. This 40 goal, 90 point center is the heart of a Foreurs team that was QMJHL champions just two years ago.  This kid is a threat to lead the Q in scoring this year which would make the Predators really happy.

(These players ideally would have slotted in the Joseph-Bokondji range)
